Caring Company 2010

Light Engine Limited has been awarded the Caring Company Logo 2007/10 by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. The award recognizes our achievement in the criteria of Caring for Community, Employee Friendly and Caring for the Environment.

The ultimate goal for The Caring Company scheme is to raise public awareness of good corporate citizenship demonstrated by the business and public sectors and their contribution to a caring community spirit, aims to build a cohesive society by promoting strategic partnership among businesses and social service partners and inspiring corporate social responsibility through caring for the community, employees and the environment which Light Engine has continuously compiled.

We will continue to contribute our effort and to create a more caring and harmonious society.

Earth Hour 2010

Earth Hour is organized by WWF. In March 2009, hundreds of millions of people took part in the third Earth Hour. Over 4000 cities in 88 countries officially switched off to pledge their support for the planet, it’s one of the world's largest and most respected independent conservation organizations. WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the Earth's natural environment and build a greener future where people live in harmony with nature.

Light Engine is dedicated to develop Eco-lighting which benefit the daily lives of its every day users, and allow people to enable to express their conscience to save the planet by lower carbon consumption with our products, in which aligns with Earth Hour’s ultimate goal – Go Low Carbon!

As a member of WWF, Light Engine is strongly going-forth to participate this event again this year on 27th March, 2010 at 8:30pm.

Light Engine’s advanced CabLEDTM technology sweeps the board at Innovation and Creativity Awards

Light Engine’s innovative lighting engineering and cutting edge product design dazzled the judges at the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce’s prestigious ‘2009 Hong Kong Awards for Industries’ and won the title of The Winner of Innovation and Creativity Award in one of the toughest competitions for years. Award granted on 18th Jan 2010 in the utmost reputable ceremony, inauguration speech was conveyed by the Chief Executive of Hong Kong.

According to the judges “The quality of entries has been extremely high this year, so this win is a mark of considerable achievement for Light Engine (which has) it’s own R&D for product innovation”.

The breakthrough CabLEDTM technology is the result of years of innovative research and development by Light Engine’s engineers, lighting technicians and industrial product designers in integrating the company’s expertise in both cable and LED lighting manufacturing.

Brilliantly simple and easy to install, Light Engine’s CabLEDTM system is a unique conducting wire embedded with high-brightness LED packaging that offers a totally reliable, and infinitely flexible, space-saving and weather proof, environmentally friendly lighting solution that can be used indoors, outdoors or even underwater.

With over 13 worldwide patents (patent pending) for its LED Conducting Wire Technology and its mounting and connection devices, Light Engine’s CabLEDTM system demonstrates a world-class level of innovative engineering that is setting new standards in the lighting industry.

Not only can the CabLEDTM system sustain lighting integrity and brightness across single units up to 50 metres in length it also conforms to IP68 waterproof standards making it exceptionally versatile in use.

The Innovation Award’s panel of judges recognized that Light Engine “has shown considerable technological innovation to allow anyone to design, cut and plug in lighting based on their specific needs.”

Hong Kong Chief Executive visits United Luminous

July 08, 2009
The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, visited the United Luminous showroom on the June 26 as part of a series of Government visits to enterprises in the six priority economic sectors identified by the Task Force on Economic Challenges (TFEC).

The Deputy Chairman of ULI Mr. Simon Cua, who is also Director of the Hong Kong Electronic Industries Association and Director of the Hong Kong Shanghai Economic Development Association, introduced the Chief Executive to the extensive range of the company’s LED products including general lighting for home, office and mood lighting, LED media displays and automotive lighting.

Mr Tsang recognized the wide application of LED and pointed out that, “The Government will soon stop procuring tungsten filament lamps; LED, with its low energy consumption and long service life, is definitely one of our choices for energy efficient lighting."

The Chief Executive stressed that, “The Government is taking the lead in building Hong Kong into a green city and is legislating to encourage behavioral change and is already setting an example by expanding the scope of green procurement, formulating guidelines and providing new resources to encourage departments to procure green products.”

"This will create business opportunities for our environmental industry and assist them in expanding their Mainland markets through environmental, infrastructure and Clean Development Mechanism projects,” Mr Tsang said.

US Speaker Pelosi visits Light Engine

The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Ms. Nancy Pelosi and a 20-member Congressional Delegation focusing on energy and environment issues visited the Light Engine Showroom during a visit to the Hong Kong Science & Technology Park (HKSTP) on May 30th.

Mr. Richard Sy, Managing Director of Cree Asia Pacific Ltd., introduced the lighting display area to the delegation and discussed the strides the company is making in advanced LED technology and the company’s contribution to energy saving, environmentally friendly illumination.

Ms. Pelosi and her delegation were accompanied by the Consul General of the United States in Hong Kong and Mr. Anthony Tan, Chief Executive Officer of HKSTP and Mr. Allen Yeung, Vice President of Business Development and Technology Support of the HKSTP. The delegation were keen to understand how companies are helping to reduce local and regional carbon emissions.

They left Hong Kong with a greater understanding of how intellectual property rights are protected in the territory and how Hong Kong based companies and Hong Kong are contributing to the growth and development of green business in Greater China.

WWF Hong Kong is organizing “Earth Hour 2009”, the event started in Sydney in 2007, aims to show how even the smallest actions can make a big difference in combating climate change. With our green LED lighting solutions, Light Engine’s corporate conscience is to helping environmental development by energy saving, which is the spirit of “Earth Hour”. Because we believe that every little helps, we'll be joining the admirable efforts in this global event.

At 8:30pm on 28 March 2009 Light Engine will join other participating companies across the world and turn off our lights for one hour. We strongly encourage you to show your support for this event and help create a brighter future for us all.
